Reviews of The Best Vacuum Cleaners

The Vacuum Review

The Vacuum Review gives you the dirt on the latest vacuum cleaner models and trends. We do a lot of market research on Vacuum cleaners as it becomes available so that we can offer you the easiest decision making process possible when it comes to buying a new vacuum cleaner.

Before looking further into vacuum models it’s a good idea to really have in mind what jobs you require the vacuum to perform, what are your floor types and what additional areas will you use the vacuum in? Often, it may be that 2, more specialized vacuums will work better than one all round vacuum.

We have separated our vacuum cleaner reviews into categories based on the vacuum types, as we know one of the first thing that needs to be considered when choosing a new model is what type of vacuum is going to be best for you and your home.

Upright Vacuums:

Some people have a preference for upright vacuums as they are easier on the back as less bending over is required to operate them. With an upright there is the extra weight of the vacuum to push across the floor as the whole unit is as one. An upright is often less expensive than a canister vacuum so that is something to keep in mind as well.

Canister Vacuums:

For many people a canister vacuum is going to be the most practical. Because the canister vacuum has a hose attached to it with a power head it will allow you to get into tighter spots and under furniture more easily than with an upright.  Another big benefit of the design is that you are only really pushing the weight of the head through the carpet rather than the weight of the whole vacuum.

Hand-Held Vacuums:

Hand-held vacuums make an excellent addition to the home as a secondary unit. There are rechargeable battery operated models that are extremely portable and great for tidying up little spills and messes.  The are also electric models which are usually more powerful and they’re perfect for hard to get at places, furniture and stairs.  Hand-held vacuums are also particularly useful for cleaning the car or boat.

Robot Vacuums:

Robotic vacuums are particularly good for keeping your house tidy with minimum effort. They are probably best used as a secondary cleaner as they won’t get under your furniture in most cases and will miss any spots on the floor when there is an obstruction in the way.  The real beauty of a robotic vacuum is that they will stay on top of the cleaning while you are out or at work.  This means that the amount of time you need to spend with a traditional vacuum doing the harder to get at places is greatly reduced, and may only require a decent hand-held vacuum.
